Rangers first baseman Prince Fielder is expected to undergo season-ending neck surgery due to a herniated disk later this week, according to multiple reports tweeted on Monday afternoon.
The 32-year-old Fielder, an American League All-Star last season, last played on July 18. Fielder was batting .212 with eight home runs and 44 RBIs in 89 games for Texas this year.
