Despite the Rangers' preference to avoid rentals at the deadline, the team's desperation has them taking a long look at Volquez, whose deal expires at the end of the season, as a potential solution for its struggling rotation, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.
Volquez picked up a no decision in his start against the Rangers, allowing one run over six innings.
