SURPRISE, Ariz. - Adrian Beltre will not play for the third consecutive game Wednesday due to a calf issue as the possibility grows the Rangers may have to consider opening the season with him on the disabled list.

"We don't have to make any decisions until Sunday," assistant general manager Mike Daly said. "Our thought and Adrian's thought is that he's going to play Monday night in the season opener against Cleveland."

Beltre left Sunday's game against Los Angeles after one plate appearance. The Rangers said he was not injured and was simply going to get extra work.
