Braves trade Francoeur to Marlins in 3-team deal

The Atlanta Braves have traded Jeff Francoeur to the Miami Marlins in three-way deal that includes the Texas Rangers, a source told ESPN's Jim Bowden on Wednesday night.

Francoeur had made the Braves' opening-day roster with an impressive spring training.

He was hitting .249 with seven home runs and 33 RBIs entering Wednesday.

Francoeur had made it clear he wouldn't take an assignment with the Braves' Triple-A Gwinnett affiliate.

By making the roster, Francoeur got a $1 million, one-year contract that could be worth up to $1 million in performance bonuses based on playing time: $200,000 each at 300, 350, 400, 450 and 500 plate appearances.
