AUSTIN, Texas – Freshman Texas guard/forward Joyner Holmes has been named the Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week for her impressive performances this past week in a pair of wins by the Longhorns, the league office announced Monday.
Holmes, 6-foot-3 and from Cedar Hill, Texas, led the Longhorns to an 86-68 win against No. 20 Oklahoma on Tuesday and a 77-57 road win against RV Texas Tech on Saturday. Texas is off to an 8-0 start in Big 12 Conference play and 14-4 overall.
Holmes averaged a double-double on the week with team-leading totals of 16.
