Texas Longhorns Season Opener: What to Watch For

Strong needs to build on a 6-7 season that lacked imagination on offense. The team closed out the season with two blowout losses, leaving fans with eight months to stew over the less-than-stellar conclusion.

By all accounts progress has been made. Tyrone Swoopes appears to be a changed man, at least in practice. The offense line is a little nastier thanks to two true freshmen. And Malik Jefferson announced his presence with one particular hit in the spring game.

Saturday the Longhorns play for real in South Bend. There is no New Mexico State tune up.
