Texas falls on the road to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 8-2

For the seventh time in the last eight games, the Texas Longhorns failed to come away with a victory, this time in a humiliating 8-2 defeat at the hands of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Tuesday evening at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi.

The Horns only managed four hits scattered across the top of the lineup and drew only two walks, hardly enough to win on a day when the pitching staff wasn’t especially sharp. Two of those hits and both walks came in the first inning, during which Texas scored two runs, but missed an opportunity to score more when freshman second baseman Lance Ford grounded into an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded.
