If competing as a separate country, current and former UT athletes would have ranked in a tie for seventh in number of gold medals earned in Rio.
AUSTIN — Current and former University of Texas student-athletes accounted for a total of 13 medals, including 10 gold, during the 2016 Rio Olympics. If these athletes were competing as a separate country, Texas would have ranked in a tie for seventh place among all nations in the number of gold medals earned and tied for 20th in the number of total medals won.
