AUSTIN, Texas – Texas senior sprinter Courtney Okolo ran the fastest time in the world this season at the Husker Invitational on Friday night and on Tuesday she was recognized for the effort as the USTFCCCA Division I National Athlete of the Week.
Okolo ran 51.16 to win the 400 meters at the Husker Invitational, besting former teammate and now professional runner for Nike, Ashley Spencer. It was Okolo's season debut in her primary event as she is preparing to defend her 2015 NCAA title indoors.
The time of 51.16 also set a meet record for the Husker Invitational and facility record at the Bob Devaney Center.
