NEW ORLEANS – Senior golfer Maddie Luitwieler posted a top-10 finish and the No. 3 Texas women's golf team captured the 2019 Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship on Tuesday at English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans.
The Longhorns turned in a 12-over-par 876 [285-291-300] to win their second tournament of the year and their fifth in the last two seasons. No. 5 Duke placed second with a 14-over-par 878 [286-296-296], while No. 1 Southern California was third with a 23-over-par 887 [289-291-307].
Luitwieler recorded her second career top-10 finish and was one of four Texas golfers in the individual top-20.
