Report: Texas To Fire AD Steve Patterson

The Texas Longhorns are expected to fire athletic director Steve Patterson, according to the American-Statesman.

Patterson and school president Gregory L. Fenves are meeting Tuesday morning, and former Texas linebacker Mike Perrin will serve as the interim AD.

Texas fans have been calling for Patterson's dismissal for months after he raised ticket prices, and he's had to battle the perception that his "cool demeanor simply does not fit UT’s style." However, the Statesman reports that the final straw came when Patterson lost confidence of his coaches.

The Statesman also reports that that former Texas head footbal coach Mack Brown met with Fenves last week, but he is not being considered for the permanent athletic director job.

Patterson was hired in November 2013 to a guaranteed five-year contract worth $1.4 million annually. The contract has no buyout clause, which meaning that Texas will have to pay the $5.6 million remaining on his contract.
