Texas A&M backup center Ryan McCollum was arrested and charged with reckless driving and evading arrest Saturday night.
According to a police report, an officer said McCollum, a sophomore, nearly hit another vehicle on Throckmorton Street and Short Street, near Kyle Field, while driving through an area full of pedestrians and sped off around the vehicle.
An officer on a bicycle then tried to catch up with McCollum, but he continued to drive down the street and turned left on George Bush Drive before stopping at Bizzell Street and George Bush after multiple verbal commands to stop from the officer in pursuit.
