It’s not easy for a wide receiver to win the award, but it’s certainly possible. Two true wide receivers have won the Heisman Trophy since it was first awarded in 1935. Tim Brown took home the award in 1987 and was followed in 1991 by Desmond Howard. Johnny Rodgers played both wide receiver and running back at Nebraska in 1972, but his all-purpose yardage was split between the air and the ground.
The task is monumental. But if any receiver in the country has a chance to do something that hasn’t happened in nearly two decades, it’s probably Christian Kirk.
