Texas A&M finished second to Florida in this year’s standings. The Aggies won a pair of national championships this year: Equestrian and Men’s Indoor Track and Field. Those wins, along with high finishes from many Aggie sports were enough to propel Texas A&M into the upper tier of the SEC.
GateHouse media’s formula used to determine the final standings takes the total points for each school’s finish in all SEC sports and divides it by the number of team competing in each field. Boiled down to it’s most simplistic level this ranking aggregates the standings across all sports to create a composite ranking.
