By the time Texas A&M signed its 2013 recruiting class, the Aggies were fresh off their best season since the days of John David Crow and Bear Bryant.

Their contemporary counterparts, Johnny Manziel and Kevin Sumlin, led the Aggies to a No. 5 ranking in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll, the team's highest ranking since 1956. Manziel, who just won the Heisman Trophy, was returning for his junior year and Sumlin was entering his second as the team's coach after the 11-win campaign.
