NFL analyst: Brown 'lied' about Johnny Manziel's concussion to cover up drinking; team calls claims 'false'

In an interview aired on NFL Network, analyst Mike Silver reports that the Cleveland Browns lied about quarterback Johnny Manziel being in concussion protocol after the former A&M quarterback "showed up drunk at practice" toward the end of the season.

"I just want to put this in perspective," said Silver in a video posted to NFL.com. "I was with a Browns player yesterday. Johnny Manziel going into what would be a start late in the season showed up drunk at practice on a Wednesday. The Browns lied and said he was in the concussion protocol. Let me repeat that, the Browns lied, to try to protect, and I would argue enable, this irresponsible and very troubled young man.
