John Chavis: Texas A&M will be ‘improved at linebacker’ in 2016

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – When people are the best at something, they know. When people aren’t the best at something, they still know.

Texas A&M’s linebacking corps was not the best in 2015 and the group knows it. And they are tired of hearing about it.

Still, there is an optimistic outlook heading into 2016.

“We will be improved at linebacker,” Aggies defensive coordinator John Chavis said last week. “We are bigger, we are stronger and we are faster. With a little bit of coaching, they will be better.”

Though the Aggies finished 108th nationally in rush defense last season – much of that can be attributed to poor play at linebacker – it does have promising players returning at the position, including senior Shaan Washington and sophomore Otaro Alaka.
