Can Texas A&M win a national championship under Kevin Sumlin?
Short answer: Yes, but it won’t be easy.
Five active FBS coaches have won at least one national championship: Bob Stoops (1), Jimbo Fisher (1), Dabo Sweeney (1), Urban Meyer (3), and Nick Saban (5). That’s a pretty exclusive list. Why is that list so small? Because it’s not easy to win a title.
This isn’t college basketball where a single shot can topple a Goliath. College football is a game of game plans, execution, and endurance. Only the elite of the elite can make it into the College Football Playoff conversation, and frankly Sumlin isn’t there yet.
