Former Texas A&M walk-on tight end Luke Laufenberg signed with UTEP Wednesday afternoon, completing his long road back to football after defeating Burkitt leukemia last May.
Laufenberg (6-4, 235) will be a redshirt junior for the Miners in 2019 after transferring from Mesa (Ariz.) CC.
Luke Laufenberg is the son of Babe Laufenberg, who played quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys from 1989-90.
Laufenberg spent one season at A&M in 2016. He played with former A&M quarterback Nick Starkel at Argyle Liberty Christian during his senior year of high school after spending the first three at Dallas Jesuit.
