Serena Williams powers into US Open fourth round

Serena Williams notched a record 307th career Grand Slam match victory, surpassing Martina Navratilova for the most by a woman in the Open Era.

The world number one's 6-2 6-1 US Open third-round win over Johanna Larsson of Sweden also ensured the American equalled Roger Federer's record total.

Serena, 34, is bidding to claim a record 23rd Grand Slam singles title and her seventh US Open crown.

She won her first Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows in 1999.

Sister Venus Williams, the sixth seed and oldest woman in the tournament at 36, plays Laura Siegemund of Germany later.
