WIMBLEDON, England — After a week of results with little regard to the rankings, nearly half of the players who reached the second week of Wimbledon — 15 of 32 — are unseeded.
Many of these players are familiar to most tennis fans, with six having been ranked in the top 10 earlier in their careers: Belinda Bencic, Dominika Cibulkova, Ekaterina Makarova, Ernests Gulbis, Gaël Monfils and Gilles Simon.
The remaining nine competing on so-called Manic Monday, when all 16 fourth-round singles matches are played, are considerably less known. So, let’s get to know them, shall we?
