Tennessee struggling to produce in running game against odd-man fronts

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Only one team in Tennessee history rushed for more yards in a season than the Vols in 2015.

Tennessee finished with 2,908 rushing yards last season (in 13 games); the record is 3,068 in 1951 (in 10 games). The Vols were second in the SEC in rushing last season at 223.7 yards per game, with a 4.7-yards-per-carry average.

This season, the Vols haven’t been nearly as effective on the ground, ranking 10th in the SEC in rushing at 169.6 yards per game at just 4.0 yards per carry.

Tennessee’s offensive line clearly has not performed to the standard it did a year ago.
