Tennessee coach Butch Jones received some needed good news Tuesday when five-star offensive tackle Trey Smith committed to the Vols.
Smith (6 feet 6, 310 pounds), from Jackson (Tenn.) University School, chose Tennessee over Alabama, Ole Miss, Clemson, Notre Dame and Ohio State.
Smith made his announcement live from his high school on ESPNU’s “Recruiting Nation.” He is ESPN’s top-ranked prospect in this recruiting class; in 247 Sports’ composite ranking, he is the No. 25 overall prospect and a top-five offensive tackle.
He is expected to enroll at Tennessee this January.
Tennessee now has 24 commitments.
