Lacrosse Beats Marquette in OT on McDermott's Golden Goal

PHILADELPHIA - Senior Brenda McDermott scored the overtime game-winner for Temple lacrosse to lift the Owls (8-2, 1-1) to a 17-16 victory against visiting Marquette in their BIG EAST home opener. The high-scoring affair saw Temple tally three hat tricks, led by junior Nicole Barretta's five goals.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Kelsea Hershey recorded the win in the cage, making two of her six saves in the overtime period to allow Temple to have a chance to get back on offense. After the second of those saves, senior Krissy Gallivan scooped up a crucial ground ball, and McDermott soon drove to goal for the game-winner.
