Rays' Kiermaier sprains ankle making spectacular catch

BALTIMORE – Tampa Bay Rays center fielder Kevin Kiermaier talked before Monday’s game about how easy it is to rob home runs at Camden Yards with the stadium’s seven-foot high wall from left field to right-center field, and darned if Kiermaier didn’t do just that in the bottom of the first inning.

Then he left the game in the middle of the third inning because of a mild right ankle sprain suffered on the play. He is listed as day-to-day.

Kiermaier raced to the wall just to the right of dead center field, jumped and caught the ball hit by Baltimore shortstop Manny Machado as it sailed over the wall.
