When the Tampa Bay Rays placed Jake Odorizzi on the ten day disabled list with a strained hamstring, it was expected that he would return relatively soon. In fact, there were questions as to whether or not Odorizzi would need a rehab assignment, given that he would be able to keep his arm in shape during the layoff.
As it turns out, those expectations were accurate. After throwing 65 pitches in a simulated game yesterday, Odorizzi has declared himself ready to return to the mound. The Rays have agreed with that assessment, as he is set to come off the disabled list on Monday and take his turn against the Miami Marlins.
