NEW YORK — The moment RHP Chris Archer said all major-leaguers strive for should happen for him Monday night when the pitchers and non-starters are announced for next week’s All-Star Game.
“It would be a dream come true,” Archer said before Sunday’s game. “And to be surrounded by greatness would be very, very special.”
Entering Sunday’s action, Archer was tied for first in the American League in strikeouts (141) and opponents batting average (.196), was third in ERA (2.18) and tied for fourth with nine wins.
Moreover, his 0.95 WHIP was the best in the league.
