Lightning drop Game 1 to Rangers 2-1

NEW YORK — Tampa Bay found an early hole.

The Lightning tried to dig out of it, but wound up falling down 2-1 to the New York Rangers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference at Madison Square Garden.

Former Lightning center Dominic Moore scored the game winner with 2:25 left.

Derek Stepan also scored for the Rangers and Henrik Lundqvist made it stand up, stopping 23 shots. It marked the ninth game this postseason for the Rangers decided by a 2-1 outcome.

Ben Bishop was strong in net once, allowing two goals on 30 shots.
