TAMPA, Fla. -- Forget the "Muscle Hamster" nickname. Doug Martin wants to be known as "Dougernaut."
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back made his preference known Wednesday morning, which marks the latest twist in his personal campaign against the "Muscle Hamster" label. He received the "Muscle Hamster" nickname during his time at Boise State, and since entering the NFL as the 31st overall pick in 2012, Martin has made known his displeasure with it on multiple occasions.
"Dougernaut?" he said. "Yeah, that's the nickname I'm going with."
The new nickname is fitting.
