What does Steven Clark's medical disqualification mean for Syracuse football?

Syracuse, N.Y. -- On Tuesday, Syracuse football medically disqualified junior defensive tackle Steven Clark due to a genetic disorder, his father, Steve Clark said.

It's a decision, made by head team physician Dr. James Tucker, that's quickly become the subject of debate.

Tucker made his ruling based in part on the opinion of Syracuse-based hematologist Dr. Santo DiFino, the older Clark said. DiFino believes the genetic disorder, Factor V Leiden (one gene), makes Steven Clark's chances of blood clotting too high and he recommends Steven take blood thinners for life, Steve Clark said.
