The Syracuse University women's lacrosse team got a No. 4 seed and a bye in the first round of the NCAA Division I tournament.
But a shortage of hotel rooms in Central New York will deny SU an early home game.
The Orange will meet the winner of Friday's Stony Brook-Boston College game on Sunday in Newton, Mass. Normally, those first two rounds would have been in Syracuse.
But Syracuse could not meet the minimum requirement of hotel rooms within a 30-mile radius for the two visiting teams. Graduations for SU, Cazenovia and Colgate added to the room shortage.
