Son of Syracuse football assistant recovering after heat stroke at Texas A&M

Syracuse, N.Y. -- The son of Syracuse football quarterbacks coach Kirk Martin is home recovering after an apparent heat stroke left him with a 106-degree fever and kidney failure earlier this week.

Koda Martin, a fifth-year senior offensive lineman at Texas A&M and the son-in-law of Syracuse head coach Dino Babers, needed medical attention Monday after running 40 straight plays and seven gassers in practice, according to his father, who spoke to the Houston Chronicle.

Koda was placed in a cold tub to get his temperature down, then taken to a College Station, Tex. hospital, where he spent three days because of organ failure, his father told the paper.
