Syracuse, N.Y. - Jimmy Boeheim found out his Cornell basketball team would be facing his dad's Syracuse basketball team in the 2017-18 season opener the way everybody else did:
He heard about it when the date was formally announced.
The eldest son of Jim and Juli knew the Big Red would appear on the Orange schedule. SU has met Cornell on the basketball court 122 times. No other SU opponent has played that many games against the Orange. The news that it would happen the first game of the season was the surprise.
The game, of course, has prompted conversation between the two Jim Boeheims.
