Former Syracuse RB/WR Ashton Broyld trying out for Jaguars

Continuing the time-honored tradition of Doug Marrone helping improve the stock of former Syracuse Orange players, Ashton Broyld will try out for the Jacksonville Jaguars (where Marrone is currently head coach). The tryout is part of the team’s veterans mini-camp this week.

Marrone originally recruited Broyld back in 2011, when he arrived as a heralded New York State dual-threat quarterback. He’d eventually round into a quick and capable hybrid running back/wide receiver for Syracuse. Broyld amassed 173 rushing yards, 679 receiving yards and one touchdown in 25 games with the Orange. He was dismissed from the program in 2015, however.
