ACC favorites Duke, North Carolina lose critical starting big men due to injury

(Associated Press)

Two of the favorites to win the ACC received negative injury reports on Monday about critical players.

No. 7 Duke will be without Amile Jefferson for an indefinite period with a foot injury, while No. 11 North Carolina will be without Kennedy Meeks for at least two weeks with a bone bruise on his left knee.

Without Meeks, UNC still has a solid front-court option in Brice Johnson, but the Tar Heels' interior is no longer as deep and dominant as it was. Meeks, a 6-foot-10 junior forward, was fourth on the Tar Heels, averaging 12.
