Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse target Alterique Gilbert, a Class of 2016 point guard, announced on Saturday that he will attend the University of Connecticut.

In May, Gilbert narrowed his list to five schools: Syracuse, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisville and Texas. He reportedly visited only UConn prior to making his decision.
Gilbert became more coveted by Syracuse coaches when fellow 2016 point guard Tyus Battle chose Michigan.
