Burnley express interest in Lamine Kone as Sunderland look to free up transfer funds for promotion push

Burnley have made an enquiry for Sunderland centre-back Lamine Kone.

The 28-year-old Ivory Coast international is available as he wants to play in the top flight and manager Simon Grayson will sell to help boost his transfer funds.

Kone had interest from Everton, Crystal Palace, West Ham and West Bromwich Albion last year before signing a new contract worth around £60,000 a week.

Kone has struggled to replicate his form this season after helping Sunderland avoid relegation last year but Clarets manager Sean Dyche remains an admirer of the Ivory Coast international.
