Stanford Football Recruiting Roundup: 4-Star CB Tipped To Pick Stanford Over Cal

In today's Stanford recruiting roundup, there's an update on a San Diego 4-Star and some very interesting quotes about an unrated WR who committed earlier this week.

Frank Buncom

The four-star cornerback from San Diego is nearing a decision, and it sounds like he's leaving heavily toward Stanford at this stage. Scout.com and 247 Sports recruiting analysts have both predicted Buncom will pick Stanford over California, and 96% (!) of 247's Crystal Ball predictions have him landing with the Cardinal.

Buncom is a 6'2, 190 lb corner with excellent speed and field vision. Despite in-home visits from Vanderbilt coaches last week and a visit to Cal on Friday, it looks like his sights are set squarely on Stanford.

Jay Tyler

The New Orleans WR flew under the radar of the major scouting services, but that didn't stop David Shaw from extending an offer. Tyler committed earlier this week, and at 5'9, he projects as a scrappy slot receiver in the Wes Welker mold.

A converted QB, Tyler's high school coach calls him the 'best-kept secret in the country', and said he's "as good of a leader and athlete as we have had at our school"...high praise when you consider he's graduating from the same school as the Manning brothers.
