Rams Rumors: St. Louis' Top 3 Free Agency Targets Are...

The St. Louis Rams finished with a 6-10 record in the toughest division in football despite dealing with numerous injuries at the quarterback position, and there are signs that this team is ready to break through. These are the players they're targeting in free agency to help them get into the playoff hunt:

WR Cecil Shorts

It looks like Kenny Britt will be signing elsewhere this offseason, leaving the Rams in need of a quality receiver. Shorts produced good numbers in his first four years in the league despite being limited by injuries and poor quarterback play in Jacksonville, and is looking for a new start. He doesn’t have game-breaking speed, but Shorts has reliable hands and would give St. Louis a good primary target who won’t demand top dollar.

LB Rey Maualuga

Rey Maualuga won’t be a star for the Rams, but he's a reliable player they can add to their stellar linebacking core of James Laurinaitis and Alec Ogletree. He finished the season with 35 tackles and one interception in 12 games in a backup role in Cincinnati, and is looking to make an impact somewhere he can start. The biggest knock on Maualuga is his lack of versatility, but his run-stopping ability would make him valuable in St. Louis.

OL James Carpenter

Carpenter has dealt with injury issues in Seattle, but when he’s healthy, he’s a big upgrade on the interior of the offensive line. Protecting whoever plays quarterback is a top priority for the Rams, making Carpenter a key target for them this offseason.
