In order to build up arm strength for the long haul of the season, the St. Louis Cardinals placed their first selection from the 2014 draft, Luke Weaver, in Extended Spring Training to start the year. Five weeks after the other minor league teams broke camp, Weaver made his season debut for the Palm Beach Cardinals as they faced off against the Tortugas in Daytona.
Weaver cruised through 5 innings allowing an unearned run on 5 hits and 2 walks.
