The Cardinals could be nearing an agreement with free-agent outfielder Dexter Fowler, a source told MLB.com. MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch confirmed a Thursday report by Frank Cusumano of KSDK Sports noting that Fowler is scheduled to take a physical in St. Louis on Friday. USA Today's Bob Nightengale tweeted that the two sides are close to a deal.
Terms of an agreement are not yet known, and the club has not confirmed a deal.
Fowler rejected a qualifying offer from the Cubs, so the Cardinals will lose the 19th pick in the 2017 Draft if the deal is completed.
