Robinson, Munoz vie for utility role on Cardinals

JUPITER, Fla. • Cardinals infielder-outfielder Drew Robinson has no trouble adjusting to a utility role, even though he is just 26 years old. He has been a utility player for years.

As a freshman in high school in Las Vegas, Robinson was 5-foot-1 and 105 pounds. By the start of his junior season, he was 6 feet. And now he is 6-1 and weighs 200 pounds.

Lefthanded-hitting Robinson and holdover Cardinal Yairo Munoz, a righthanded hitter, are the Swiss Army knives in manager Mike Shildt’s knapsack.

Robinson played six positions last season for Texas, which dealt him to the Cardinals for infielder Patrick Wisdom.
