Reds give Cardinals two runs in sixth

CINCINNATI • The Cardinals scored their first run without benefit of a home run in the last four games when two Cincinnati errors, a Jumbo Diaz wild pitch and Yadier Molina’s single led to two tallies in the sixth, stretching the Cardinals’ lead to 5-0.

One of the errors was by Diaz, who threw well over the head of Cincinnati first baseman Joey Votto, who really wasn’t holding Molina on anyway. The other error was a dropped throw by Votto.

WONG HOMERS TO HIKE LEAD TO 3-0

Kolten Wong belted his second homer in his last three starts when he rifled his fourth of the season into the right-center-field seats in the fifth inning to extend the Cardinals’ lead over Cincinnati to 3-0.
