On Wednesday, righthander Max Scherzer, a Parkway Central product who played at the University of Missouri, will make his first start in St. Louis in nearly seven years. As a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Scherzer, a rookie in 2008, lost a 4-2 decision on Sept. 24 that year.
Scherzer has lost his last three starts, allowing 13 earned runs in 16 innings. He has been moved back a day to start Wednesday so he can start the first game of a key series with the National League-leading New York Mets on Sept.
