Molina blasts fifth home run in season, cutting Cards' deficit to 7-4

Yadier Molina has accounted for most of the Cardinals' offense Tuesday night.

The catcher singled home two runs in the first inning against starter Kenta Maeda, and in the eighth launched a solo shot to left, his fifth homer of the season. Despite the bomb, the Cardinals still trail the Dodgers 7-4.

It does, however, present the opportunity for Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen to enter the game for a chance at his ninth save.

Cardinals' bats quiet against Dodger bullpen

When second baseman Greg Garcia -- who entered during a double switch -- singled with one out in the seventh, it was the first Cardinals hit since the second inning.
