Hudson, Gomber and Munoz shine, but Cards fall apart late in 4-0 loss to Braves

JUPITER, Fla. • Potential rotation candidates Dakota Hudson and Austin Gomber both pitched two innings of scoreless ball for the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Relievers Brett Cecil, John Brebbia and Tyler Webb followed suit but righthander Seth Elledge, the sixth Cardinals’ pitcher, walked two of the first three men he faced in the eighth. The Atlanta Braves also had two hits in the inning and they took advantage of an error by shortstop Edmundo Sosa and a wild pitch, breaking a scoreless tie with four runs as they posted a 4-0 exhibition win.

Yairo Munoz was the most outstanding — and versatile — player.
