Hochman: The evolution of Fowler leads to rejuvenation of Cards

Dexter Fowler was just a guy.

I was a writer in Denver that summer of 2013, when Dexter was just one of those Rockies out there, clunking through another rocky season. He hit .263 (with a .369 on-base percentage) and his team won 74 games. In sports circles around town, he became known for not being known – Fowler was the trivia answer few folks conjured when asked: “Which major leaguer has the most career hits against Clayton Kershaw?”

To think, in the winter of 2016, I was sardined next to TV cameras Thursday night at Lambert, hoping to just get a glimpse of the all-star.
