Heyward leaves game after second with tight hamstring

Injuries have become routine for the Cardinals this season, and on the same day Randal Grichuk got put on the disabled list with an elbow injury, the Cardinals new centerfielder, Jason Heyward, lasted two innings before coming out of the game.

Heyward left after the second inning, suffering from what was called left hamstring tightness. Tommy Pham, freshly arrived from Memphis, took his spot in the third inning, giving the Cardinals an unlikely outfield of Brandon Moss, Pham and Stephen Piscotty.

Michael Wacha, who gave up a home run that ended the NLCS the last time he faced the Giants, retired the first seven batters he faced before walking second baseman Kelby Tomlinson.
