The Cardinals could finally know their "Hackgate" punishment within weeks.
"I expect, hope, that it will play out before the start of spring training," Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. said Monday. "I know the goal is, for the commissioner, to get things completed by late January, hopefully early February at the latest."
This issue has been hanging over the organization's head since 2015, when the FBI began investigating a breech of the Houston Astros database. The Cardinals fired scouting director Chris Correa after an internal investigation and Correa later pleaded guilty to federal charges for hacking into the Astros system.
