Grichuk announces return with emphatic homer as Cardinals snap losing streak

Rumor of Randal Grichuk's return to the Cardinals was leaked Sunday morning.

It was made official my a press release from the club around 3 p.m. It was discussed at length by both general manager John Mozeliak and manager Mike Matheny before the game. Grichuk was officially back in the score books as a Cardinal when he caught a fly ball to record the second out in the top of the first inning.

In case someone had managed to miss all that, Grichuk made his return known in resounding fashion in the sixth inning. He blasted a slider from Pittsburgh starter Chad Kuhl 478 feet into the upper deck in left field, the area of the stands known as Big Mac Land.
